Ambition, unchecked, has a way of turning presence into performance.
Look at the weeks of your life that you remember. Not the ones you were proudest of on paper — the ones that felt like yours. They rarely correspond to the busiest weeks. They correspond to the weeks when you paid attention.
Doing less is not a lower ambition. It is a truer one. It is choosing quality of attention over quantity of activity, and it is one of the few things that compounds in a life.
