About

This clip offers a gentle reminder that not every conflict needs an immediate resolution. Raymond Lavine (00:00) You know, we have as a family have our best interests. We trust each other. We love each other. And we and we listen and, you know, we try our best to understand. Sometimes it isn't always at the right moment. Sometimes you have to change the moment where, know, you really understand. People think you have to do something in the moment. It's called the confrontation. I'm Stefan Lindberg-Jones (00:24) Hmm. Raymond Lavine (00:24) going to let you know now. Sometimes it is better to let people calm down, their endorphins and their emotions in order to really listen. And when I say listen, that's also overused. It isn't just listening, it's really understanding. And I'll give you an example. You say to your kid, you hear what I say? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You listen? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You hear what I'm doing? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But if you ask Stefan Lindberg-Jones (00:53) Hmm. Raymond Lavine (00:54) a question like, seems that, you know, what I'm saying hasn't been understood. That's different. Now they have to give you a response. They can't give you the yeah, yeah, yeah, or, or I hear you because I want people. when I'm consulting, I want people to understand, you know, the issues involved with what I do. And, you know, that takes, you know, a practice and a skill level.
